Privacy Policy
Last updated June 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how WhatMatters LLC ("WhatMatters", "we", "us") handles information in connection with the Conan application and the conan.sh website. The short version: the app is built to keep your work on your machine, and the website collects only the minimum needed to send Conan updates and sell Premium.
1. Overview
There are two surfaces to distinguish. The Conan app runs entirely on your Mac and sends us no telemetry. The conan.sh website collects limited data when you sign up for updates or purchase Premium. This policy covers both.
2. Data we collect (website)
News & updates signup
If you sign up for Conan news and updates, we collect the email address you submit, so we can send you occasional updates — new features, releases, and Windows/Linux availability. This is stored in our key-value store (Vercel/Upstash KV) and forwarded to our team inbox via Resend. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Purchases
When you buy Premium, payment is processed by Polar.sh as Merchant of Record. Polar collects the information needed to complete the sale (e.g. billing details) and we do not store your full payment-card details. When your order completes, we do receive and store your email address together with your order id and license record — we use it to deliver your license, recognize your purchase, and provide support. Your email is also embedded in your signed license token so the app can confirm the license is yours. Because of this, please keep your license private and do not post it publicly. You can ask us to delete your stored purchase email at any time (see Your rights).
3. The app: local-only
Conan reads Claude Code's local session data in ~/.claude to visualize your activity. This processing happens on your device. Conan does not transmit your code, prompts, or session contents to us or any third party, and the app sends no analytics or telemetry.
The app makes only a small, fixed set of outbound connections, and none of them send your personal data to us:
- Software updates — Conan checks GitHub for new signed releases so it can keep itself up to date.
- License revocation check — on launch, Conan downloads a public revocation list to confirm a Premium license has not been revoked. This is a download only: it transmits no personal data and does not send your license. License validity itself is verified entirely on your device.
- Claude Radio — if you start the built-in radio, audio streams directly from YouTube. As with any embedded YouTube player, Google / YouTube receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. The radio is off until you start it.
Choosing "Buy Premium" or opening a documentation link launches your normal web browser, outside the app.
4. How we use data
- to send you occasional Conan news and updates if you signed up (you can unsubscribe anytime);
- to fulfill and support your Premium purchase;
- to operate, secure, and improve the website.
We use signup emails only to send Conan product news; we never sell them or use them for unrelated marketing. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Sharing & processors
We share data only with service providers that help us run the Service:
- Polar.sh — payments / Merchant of Record;
- Vercel — hosting and the KV store that holds signup emails;
- Resend — to deliver our news/update emails and signup notifications;
- Google Analytics — aggregate, cookie-based website analytics (see §8).
Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy terms, and we do not share your data with any other third parties for their own purposes.
6. Data retention
We keep signup emails for as long as you wish to receive Conan updates, or until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you. Purchase records (including the email tied to your license) are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (e.g. under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these, email hello@conan.sh and we will respond within a reasonable time and as required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. International users
Our service providers are based primarily in the United States, so if you access the Service from elsewhere, your information may be processed in the United States and other countries with different data-protection laws. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as our providers' standard contractual clauses — where required by law.
11. Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes, and we will notify you of material changes as required.
